Nancy, Mercedes, Rosita, María, Violeta, Lucy… : these are names that are always in our emotions and our memories of a shared life of welcome, meeting and joy; names we repeat and repetitions that unite us. Because of forced absences for health or other reasons, as Associates of the DHS Family, we go to their homes to visit them and get to know them better.
We see and contemplate on their tired and burdened faces the reason for their absences but also, in these long-awaited visits, their joy, happiness, gratitude and hope. We remember that ‘we walk together’ on the earth where ‘God walks with us’. Where footsteps come together and old and new footprints coexist, there our God is shared and we contemplate a new life that makes us exclaim with all our might: ‘We walk together, companions – Our God is in your eyes.’
