Living a time of grace

‘Welcoming and living the grace of the jubilee’: this was the subject of reflection for the bishops of the ecclesiastical province of Garoua (Yagoua, Maroua-Mokolo, Ngaoundéré and the archdiocese of Garoua), at their annual meeting from 31 March to 3 April 2025 in Ngaoundéré, CAMEROON.

On Tuesday 1 April 2025, prelates, priests, religious and lay people from the four dioceses met at the Centre Pastoral Jean Pasquier in Ngaoundéré to celebrate the launch of the Jubilee of Hope. A beautiful welcome song was composed for the occasion by Mr Angelo, a Christian and journalist for the diocese of Ngaoundéré. Christophe IDRISSA, Vicar General of the Diocese of Maroua-Mokolo, gave a presentation on the theme of the jubilee. After a pilgrim walk, the crossing of the Holy Door, adoration and confessions, the jubilee mass took place at the end of the evening, presided over by Mgr Faustin AMBASSA NDJODO, metropolitan archbishop of Garoua and current president of the bishops’ conference of the ecclesiastical province of Garoua. Our entire novitiate community was present.

After Pope Francis opened the Jubilee Year in Rome last December, several dioceses also opened it in their own churches. We really hope to benefit from the graces of this Jubilee Year, graces to ask for and gifts to receive: may the Lord grant them according to his will for his greater glory and the good of us all.
