From time to time, we need to readjust ourselves, to see where we are in relation to everything in our lives. For this reason, in Vice-Province, we took time for an economic assembly.
This assembly was held from 14 to 15 January 2023 in Maroua at the Vice-Provincial House in the presence of Sister Anne DONNELLY, General Bursar and Mr CASELLI, Administrative and Financial Director. These two guests presented to us the economic situation of the Congregation in general and that of the Vice-Province of Cameroon in particular, in connection with our vow of poverty. This presentation of our economic reality led us to become more aware of the management of the goods at our disposal and to revise our way of living the vow of poverty. A strong call to live more simply in a world of consumption, to be content with what is necessary and to deprive ourselves in order to share better. This very strong call has resonated in the hearts of all of us. It is also an invitation to live simply so that others may simply live.
Confident in the Spirit who is at work in our world, we would like to grow in self-reliance, in financial autonomy in order to live in interdependence, to be more in solidarity with the whole Congregation and to hear more the cry of the poor and the cry of the earth.
This assembly took place in an atmosphere of mutual respect, joy and fraternity. A Mass of thanksgiving closed it, thanksgiving for the life of Sister Marie-Thérèse PUECH whose birthday it was, thanksgiving also for the life of Sister Jacqueline RIVET, who died on 9 December 2022 in France: she was a woman of faith, a woman of education who gave herself totally to the education of Cameroonians. She will remain forever engraved in our hearts. May the Lord, his Father, grant her eternal rest.
