On the 15th of December 2023, Marie Balavenne’s Catholic College, Nigeria, joyfully hosted its Christmas Carol, marking the official conclusion of the first term for the 2022/2023 academic session.
The ceremony commenced with an opening prayer led by Rev. Sr. Maria ENEMUO DHS. The ceremony was officially declared open by Rev. Fr. NYAKNO Sam, the school Chaplain. In attendance were some invited school choirs, including Anglican Mission School Choir, Ilogbo; Ilogbo-Asowo Community High School Choir; DeLot Secondary School Choir; and El-Divine Success College Choir, Ilogbo. Special guests from Our Lady Queen of Angels Parish Choir, Ilogbo, and St. Francis Archangel Choir added to the festive atmosphere, presenting musical renditions in celebration of the Christmas Carol.
The MBCC drama group, under the guidance of Mr. ATALIE Fidelis, presented a compelling drama centered on godliness and contentment during the yuletide season. El-Divine Success College presented a choreography, and DeLot School presented a musical rendition featuring instruments like saxophone and drum set.
Marie Balavenne’s Catholic College Choir presented diverse musical renditions, complemented by the school band’s performance using saxophone, violin, drumset, recorder, and piano. The school principal, Rev. Sr. Rosemary ETIM DHS, who is also a member of the school choir, presented her musical talents by singing melodiously and skillfully playing the frame drum with a mallet.
The celebration culminated in music and jubilation, followed by a captivating closing remark and a vote of thanks from the principal, Rev. Sr. Rosemary ETIM DHS. She expressed gratitude to everyone who joined in the celebration and extended warm wishes for a safe return to their respective destinations. Rev. Sr. Rosemary ETIM DHS officially declared the 2022/2023 academic session closed, with the school scheduled to resume on January 6, 2024, for the second term.
