From Saturday 8 to Sunday 10 September 2023, the Bagane community in Diébougou, Burkina Faso, held its first assembly of the year.
We began this time of searching for our orientation for the pastoral year with a prayer of adoration followed by the opening words of Sister Silvie ROAMBA, our vice-provincial. She encouraged us to maintain continual unity among ourselves and to always take to heart, like our first sisters Marie BALAVENNE and Renée BUREL, the mission entrusted to us. It was in the context of this meeting that we welcomed Sister Christine DIDJA, the new postulancy teacher, who had arrived from Cameroon.
We were able to share the various training courses and sessions we had attended during the holidays: sessions for young professed sisters and leaders organised by the major superiors in Burkina Faso, and a continuing education session in Côte d’Ivoire. These rich exchanges made us aware of the ongoing work that each of us must do to manage our own emotions, needs and desires, to integrate them into the stages of our own growth and thus reach human and spiritual maturity. The vows are a way to help us configure ourselves to the poor, chaste and obedient Christ.
This assembly is an opportunity to reaffirm our desire to live out our mission in a context that is still worrying. So we reflected together, but we also rejoiced and teased each other in a fraternal atmosphere.
We rejoined our communities on Sunday after a meal punctuated by dancing, keeping in our hearts the desire to live what characterised the first Christian community: “They were assiduous in the apostles’ teaching, faithful in fellowship, in the breaking of bread and in prayer”. Acts 2,42.
