Friday 4 October 2024 was a day that the Lord made for us: in deed, we are truly happy and fulfilled today, knowing that we have been received as pre-novices into the Congregation of the Daughters of the Holy Spirit. A journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step!
We are eight young ladies from different parts of Nigeria inspired by the Holy Spirit in response to the call of God. During our reception, we used a bunch of broom for our common symbol. The implication: the broom undergoes a lot of processes to make it more useful and attractive, such as agreeing to be a group, agreeing to be trained together (going through formation) amidst challenges and struggle that are likely to come with it. We represent oneness, love, unity and strength. We unite ourselves by sharing our gifts, talents, encouragement to one another, strength, prayer partners and above all standing as one family in God’s love through the Holy Spirit.
What stands out for us today, was the humility and readiness displayed by each of us, coming together to make today a memorable one. It was really a pleasant day for us. In togetherness we made lighter what would have been too heavy for each of us.
At the reception ceremony, a reflection was given to us by Sr. Anastasia NNAMEZIE D.H.S (Novice Mistress): she told us that the call is a call of readiness to serve, and she advised us to be docile to the voice of the Holy Spirit as pre-novices. She also encouraged us to be open to formation and to be united as our symbol implies. A candle was given to us which symbolises the light of Christ, and the emblem calls on us for more listening and responsibility.
It was really a pleasant and memorable day, as we began the first step of our formation. We encouraged ourselves with the expression: “THE LORD IS OUR STRENGTH.” We pray that the Holy-Spirit will continue to bind us together as one.
With hearts full of thanks, we express our sincere gratitude to God almighty and to the D.H.S family for giving us the opportunity and accepting us into the formation House.
